KUCHING: Over 800 youth from across Sarawak converged at the 611 Bread of Life Christian Church from September 17 to 18 for the Tribal Gathering Youth event.
In a statement, this faith gathering aimed to rekindle the youth’s passion for their tribal heritage while equipping them to become positive forces in their families, communities, and schools.
The collaborative effort saw 120 volunteers from 12 different churches across Kuching, Miri, Sibu, Kapit, and even West Malaysia contribute their time and talents.
Notably, the Tribal Gathering Youth event was entirely free, ensuring accessibility for young people from rural areas.
The Tribal Gathering movement itself transcends ethnicities, denominations, generations, and even national borders.
Its roots lie in the spiritual revivals that swept through East Malaysia in the 1970s.
Organised by Cornerstone Borneo churches in partnership with the Persatuan Kelabit, Saban dan Berawan (PKSB) and the Nehemiah Prayer Ministry (including representatives from BEM/SIB churches), the Tribal Gathering Youth aimed to unite youth from all local tribes.
The main Tribal Gathering is scheduled for October 10 to 12 at the Miri Indoor Stadium.
Registration for this event is also free and can be done through the website www.tribalgatheringborneo.com.
