KUCHING: Tragedy struck as an 11-year-old boy lost his life after allegedly falling into a river at Kampung Gita Baru today (Jan 10).
It was reported that the victim and his older brother fell into the river around 2.30pm and both of them were rescued by a local.
Kuching OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah confirmed that they received information regarding the case at 2.41pm.
“The victims are twin brothers – one was pronounced dead at SGH while, the other survived.
“The case is being classified as a sudden death,” he said when contacted.
Following the rescue, the unresponsive victim was urgently transported to SGH via an ambulance.
Despite efforts by medical professionals at SGH to revive the boy, they were unable to resuscitate him.
Meanwhile, the elder brother, who reportedly showed signs of distress after the rescue, was also taken to the hospital in a family car.
