Youth advised to gain ICT skills

KUCHING: As the state moves towards Industrial Revolution 4.0, the younger generation is advised to gain knowledge especially regarding the creation of technology. Since the era of Internet of Things (IOT), it has provided massive amount of opportunities for communication and technology to be expanded.

Minister of Works, Dato Seri Fadillah Yusof said that youth should be mastering fields such as programming to be able to create software and applications for current and future gadgets.

“By creating software or application, our youth could earn serious amount of money without having to travel to different places.

“Moreover, their market is worldwide as people would use the technology in their smart phones and smart watches or any kinds of supported gadgets,” said Fadillah in his speech during the M10 Unity Night at Kampung Baru Matang last Sunday.

Apart from that, Fadillah also address his concerns over cyber security as it affects not only regular users but also professionals such as doctors and engineers. Therefore, he reminded everyone using the Internet to be cautious for scammers who requests personal details such as bank accounts, personal ID number and etc.

“We are also moving towards Virtual Reality and Autonomous Cars. The technology is ever changing and hence, our Chief Minister has undertaken a lot of efforts to digitalise Sarawak’s economy. “We hope our youth is with us so that we can move the state together,” said Fadillah. Also in attendance was Tupong State Assemblyman, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.
