KUCHING: A 27-year-old man was arrested by the police for drug possession at Jalan Sungai Apong here on Saturday.
In the 11pm incident, the unemployed suspect was arrested with 5.34g of syabu during a drug bust at a house carried out by the narcotics officers from the Kuching District Police Headquarters.
Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) chief Supt Hasnir Abdul Hamid said the team found four translucent plastic packets in the toilet drainage, each containing crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine.
“The drug seized weighed 5.34g with an estimated street value worth RM510.
“The suspect was then taken to the district police headquarters, underwent a urine test and was positive for methamphetamine,” he said when contacted on Saturday.
Hasnir also pointed out that the suspect has had no prior criminal record.
A remand order has been requested against the suspect for futher investigation under Section 39A (1) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
