KUCHING: Several young Sarawakians came together to clean up Santubong beach on Sunday morning (June 28).

According to Abang Muhamad Zulfadhli Abang Ariffin who organised the Santubong Volunteer Programme, the activity took place from 7am until 10am along a 300-metre stretch at Kampung Santubong from the river mouth to the village hall.

“The volunteers comprise five local villagers and a youth from Petra Jaya,” he said.

Zulfadhli, who works as a repository assistant, said, “Alhamdulillah, the event was a success because of the good weather. This is the second week that we actually organised it.

“This time, we were able to collect about 17 plastic bags of waste, which were twice as much from last week.”

Zulfadhli is a fine example of a responsible Sarawakian youth who cares for the environment.
