SIBU: A 24-year-old man was detained for allegedly possessing drugs believed to be syabu on Sunday.

Sibu District Deputy Police chief, Supt Martin Khoo said the suspect was detained by a police team from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) at Lorong Rambutan at around 6.00pm.

“During the inspection, police found a plastic packet filled with crystalline substance believed to syabu, weighing 0.54grammes,” he said when contacted here yesterday.

Khoo said the suspect was tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine. The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952, he added.
