KUCHING: Despite numerous often near-fatal incidents that occurred all over the world warning users against charging their mobile phone near their bed or use it while it is being charged, there are those who choose to ignore these warnings.
Here in the city, a youth learned the lesson late as he is now in critical condition at the Sarawak General Hospital after his mobile phone exploded on his chest.
The youth aged 21 from Taman Desa Wira here reportedly placed his mobile phone on his chest while it was being charged and went to sleep at 1.30pm yesterday.
Family members were later shocked to hear an explosion in the house. They rushed in to see the youth in agony.
An ambulance later took the seriously injured youth to Sarawak General Hospital for treatment.
