MUKAH: Chilli fertigation will be intensified in the Tellian area following the success of the programme implemented by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Tellian Youth wing for the past two years.
Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine said the programme will involve the youth to grow chilli as well as other crops using fertigation system.
“This is the first harvest by the PBB Tellian Youth wing where this programme has been implemented in the last two years.
“Many thanks to state PBB Youth wing for their efforts in implementing this programme.
“After this, for me personally, we will develop this programme in Tellian where we will involve the youth in the cultivation of chilli fertigation or other crops,” he said during a visit to the Mukah Fertigation Site here recently.
One of the farmers cultivating chilies using the fertigation method Edwin Jokelin, when interviewed, said he had harvested 75 kilogrammes of chillies since cultivating the crop in March this year.
“I have worked on chilli fertigation from March 2022 with 400 polybags. A total of 75 kilogrammes have been harvested and we sell the harvest to wholesalers around Mukah,” he said.
