KABONG: A youth went missing after falling into a river in Kampung Hulu Laut this evening.

Sarawak Voice reported that twenty-seven-year-old Aziz Sofian Rosli had gone to bathe at the river at about 5 pm when the mishap occurred.

According to a resident, Nasir Aris, Aziz had gone to the jetty to take a bath after he had returned home from selling smoked fish.  initially had come home with smoked fish for sale and then went down to the jetty to take a shower.

“When it was raining, the river was swiftly flowing. He was wearing a red T-shirt and jeans.

“He had undressed and got into the river to bath when he called out for help. As he was struggling, I ran with an empty container (gallon) to help him. By the time I swam, he had submerged and disappeared into the fast flowing river. I then called out to the villagers to help.”

This is the second incident in less than a month to occur in this river.
