KUCHING: A youth who pleaded guilty to raping an underage girlfriend was today ordered to be released on RM5,000 bail with one local surety.
A Magistrate’s Court here ordered his release pending his probation report set for April 22.
The 18-year-old youth was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code.
The underage girl is now seven months pregnant and expected to give birth sometime middle of next month.
The girl, who is only 15 years old, was said to have had sex with the accused since they got acquainted sometime in July last year.
They were believed to have sexual intercourse at the girl’s family home in Kampung Sejingkat in Jalan Bako near here.
A doctor at the Muara Tebas Health Clinic reported the alleged rape case after conducting a health check on the girl and discovered that she was only 15 years old.
Following the report, the accused was detained at a house in Kampung Bintawa Ulu on Feb 12.
