Youths nabbed for riding motorcycles dangerously

SIBU: Two male teenagers were arrested for performing dangerous motorcycle stunts on the road during the ‘Op Samseng Jalanan’ here yesterday (Jan 20).

The operation, conducted by Sibu Traffic Police Division together with the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division, was held from 9pm until 3am at Jalan Awang Ramli Amit and Dataran Sibu.

Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili confirmed that the duo, aged 15 and 19, were arrested for committing two offences.

The first offence was under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1985 for riding their motorcycles dangerously, while the second offence was under Section 108(3)(f) of the same Act for using fake motorcycle registration numbers.

He added that several offences and summonses were issued to motorists for various traffic offences during the operation.

Among them are not having a driving licence, no number plates, no side mirrors, no road tax, expired road tax, broken brake lights, and modified exhaust systems.

In the meantime, Zulkipli urged everyone to obey traffic laws and reminded parents to keep an eye on their children and make sure they always follow the rules.
