KUCHING: The Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS) held its Board of Trustees and the 28th Annual General Meeting at the official residence of Tuan Yang Terutama Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak on Wednesday (Sept 14).
Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, who is the chairman of YPS, in his welcoming remarks urged YPS to intensify its efforts to assist Sarawak to move forward in its unity agenda and development.
In moving forward, YPS will focus on several strategic areas including enhancing the importance of unity in programmes and activities in both the urban and rural areas of Sarawak.
YPS was established in 1994 as a non-profit organisation dedicated to nurturing and sustaining unity, harmony, and peaceful coexistence among Sarawak’s communities.
“With the aim of fostering, developing, and improving cultural and educational exchanges, YPS strives to engage Sarawak youth in activities that will increase their understanding and appreciation of each other’s cultural heritage.
“Besides that, YPS is also determined to engage Sarawak youth to value the elders’ hard work and sacrifices in ensuring that youth of today have unity, harmony, and peace in their midst,” YPS said in a statement yesterday.
Board of Trustees who attended were Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
Also present were Paulus Palu Gumbang, Datuk Wan Ali Tuanku Yubi, Datuk Ose Murang and chief executive of YPS Datuk Aloysius J. Dris.
