KUCHING: Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS) is set to roll out its latest initiative aimed at youth empowerment and unity this November, titled “Junior Junction: A Youth Unity Vision Quest.”
This programme invites secondary school students from Kuching to propose unity-based initiatives, encouraging collaboration and inclusivity in their school communities.
“Junior Junction brings a fresh approach to youth engagement, challenging students to design impactful projects in line with the Sarawak Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).
“Inspired by the concept of a business pitch, students are tasked with presenting ideas that promote harmony and reflect Sarawak’s commitment to a digitally advanced and cohesive future,” it said in a press statement yesterday (Oct 30).
“The programme starts with a Proposal Submission phase where students present creative, unity-driven concepts. Shortlisted teams from ten schools will advance to a workshop on November 6.
The statement added that this hands-on workshop will cover proposal writing, digital project management, presentation skills, and include a Unity Crash Course. These skills aim to prepare students to craft and deliver professional, impactful presentations.
Overall, this initiative will culminate on December 3 with a Pitch Competition, where the chosen teams will present their refined proposals before a panel of judges from YPS, Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Berhad (SDEC), the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD), and University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).
Each proposal will be evaluated based on creativity, potential impact, and alignment with the goals of PCDS 2030, with an emphasis on fostering Sarawak’s digital and community-centric vision.
YPS hopes the programme will empower students to think creatively about unity while developing essential skills for the digital future.
“We want to encourage students to be creative in finding solutions that promote unity and harmony in their school environments.
“Our goal is to provide them with the skills necessary to excel in a digital future while instilling a sense of teamwork, respect, and unity among students of various ethnicities working together for the common good,” a representative from YPS shared.
