KUCHING: About 100 people participated in a mass performance of the Yuanji dance at the Kuching South City Council Square (MBKS) on Friday (Aug 9).

MBKS Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng who was there to witness the event urged attendees to embody the spirit of togetherness, empowering more individuals to enhance their mental and physical health for a healthier life through the rhythm of dance.

“The council continues to maintain the Yuanji programme as part of the Kuching Food Festival over the years because it is more than just a dance; it is an exercise for individuals of all ages, to achieve longevity as well as health,” he explained.

“Yuanji’s simple and graceful movements help increase the practitioner’s mobility, balance, and strength, making it a full-body workout.

“To preserve Yuanji dance, everyone must work together. The quantity of members is less essential than the fact that this approach continues to benefit more people. I’ll always support this programme,” he added.

While thanking participants for their contribution to event’s success, Wee also recommended them to improve their connections and unite through Yuanji dancing.
