KUCHING: Sarawakian singer-songwriter Zee Avi has recently revealed that she is currently using hearing aid due to hearing problems.
According to New Straits Times, the award-winning musician was initially reluctant to seek help until her condition started to prevent her from communicating effectively.
The 36-year-old from Miri eventually accepted the matter and agreed to use a hearing aid device after attending consultation and audio test sessions.
She shared her journey about suffering hearing problems and seeking help in conjunction with World Hearing Day earlier this month.
“Make regular check-ups, latest technology of hearing aid devices to improve the quality of your social life, not only for yourself but also your close friends and family members,” she said in a recent statement.
“I can even (now) be a spy if I want as my hearing now can even reach two tables away in a restaurant,” she jokingly said,
Her confession as a musician living with hearing problems aimed to be a wake-up call for her peers and society in general about the importance of hearing health in completing one’s everyday life.
