KOTA SAMARAHAN: The annual Unimas Global Festival came to a close on Sunday night with a spellbinding performance from Miri-born international singer-songwriter Zee Avi.
Zee, who is based in Los Angeles, wowed the audience here at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak’s (Unimas) Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts with hits such as Siboh Kitak Nangis and Kantoi.
The closing ceremony was also filled with vibrant cultural performances comprising traditional to modern dances and live acoustic performances from local and international students.
These included a song and dance from Japanese exchange students, a role-play performance from Indonesia, a lively acoustic band performance from Unimas Bunga Raya College, and a Pakistan music showcase.
Graced by Unimas deputy vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Mohd Fadzil Abd Rahman, the three-day festival aimed to foster cultural integration through various programmes and activities such as food exhibition, fashion show and engagement sessions.
The final night attracted over 300 students, who converged on the theatre hall to experience the cultural performances.
Unimas Global Festival is an annual event organised by Unimas Student Council of 2018/2019 session.
