SINGER Ziana Zain, who is looking forward to her maiden concert at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP) this weekend, has described 2023 as the “best year of her life”.
She explained that getting a chance to entertain fans in the prestigious concert hall was her “dream come true”.
Another highlight for Ziana this year is that her two eldest sons have finally entered university, and she is “beaming with pride” that they both managed to further their studies.
“Seeing my eldest boys work hard and excel in their studies is pure joy. And them entering university, something that I didn’t achieve, makes me the world’s proudest mum!”
Ziana’s May 6 concert, her first with the world class Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) led by conductor Ahmad Muriz Che Rose, is themed “Raya Sepanjang Zaman”.
The show will begin at 8.30pm and is the sequel to the “Cahaya Aidilfitri” concert held last year. In the concert, Ziana will share the stage with popular singers Datuk Hail Amir and Bob Yusof, and Singaporean music legend Sanisah Huri.
The four singers will perform their best-known Hari Raya songs as well as evergreen numbers by Tan Sri P. Ramlee, Datuk Sudirman Arshad, Datuk Sharifah Aini, Datuk M. Nasir and Datuk Sheila Majid, among others.
“Raya Sepanjang Zaman” is also part of the MPO’s 25th anniversary celebrations, and the 60-member orchestra will present evergreen Hari Raya songs with new arrangements by Jenny Chin, Gerard Salonga, Luqman Aziz, Ilham Subri and Ahmad Muriz.
