KUCHING: Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has clarified that the Beverly Hills rented premises in Taman Beverly Hills, Bintulu are divided into two zones in order to test more people for Covid-19 infection in the shortest time possible.
He noted that Taman Beverly Hills, which is currently under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO), had been a subject of confusing posts on social media due to the different lockdown times.
He said Zone A had just completed the second round of Covid-19 tests while Zone B is still in the first round (refer to picture for depiction of zones).
“Officers from the Bintulu Health Department have set up temporary testing stations at two locations — the rented housing area where cases broke out and the adjacent residential area — so that more people can be tested quickly,” he said in a Facebook post today.
He said to ensure the most accurate test results, the authorities had been cautious and conducted two rounds of tests on the second and tenth days respectively. This, he said, was the reason for the shortage of manpower.
While it is understandable that people under lockdown would feel irritable, he emphasised that the most important aspect was that the Bintulu Health Department was doing its best to carry out the tests on all persons in the affected area.
“The authorities are doing their best to keep the tests going efficiently. I hope everyone can understand that the current active case detection (ACD) operation is a very heavy workload and the pace may not meet everyone’s expectations. Please be patient and understanding,” said Tiong.
He said if anyone in the affected area had missed the testing period due to unforeseen reasons, they should inform the Bintulu Health Department to get tested immediately.
He emphasised that the recent implementation of the EMCO in the rental housing zone in Bintulu had the sole objective of containing further outbreaks and protecting the people’s health and safety.
“This tough measure should not be made into a subject of abuse against the government. All these inconveniences today are just temporary sacrifices we must make for future peace of mind,” he said.
He said during this period, all-out cooperation is the greatest support and help which the public and those under lockdown could give the authorities.
“This also means not spreading negative or unfounded rumours on social media. Replace verbal abuse with considerate patience, replace hate with empathy, and let’s keep up the support for our frontliners who struggle for us day and night against Covid-19,” urged Tiong.
