KUCHING: The Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud today received a courtesy call from the Malaysia Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Zulkifli Zainal Abidin at the Astana Negeri, Petra Jaya here.
The courtesy call was the first by Zulkifli since he was appointed to head the Malaysia Armed Forces.
He arrived here for his first-ever visit to the Malaysian Armed Forces Eastern Field Command headquarters in Samarahan near here.
During the visit, he also presented Pingat Jasa Malaysia (PJM) and Pingat Kedaulatan Negara (PKN) awards to Sarawak armed forces veterans who had served in “Ops Daulat” in Lahat Datu in 2013.
He was accompanied by Commander of Eastern Field Command Lieu Gen Datuk Wira Zamrose Mohd Zain and One Division commander Major Gen Datuk Toh Choon Siang and Third Brigade commander Brig.Gen Mohd Isa Jaafar.
