KUCHING: The 35th edition of the annual Kuching Food Festival from Jul 28 to Aug 20 will feature 17 activities.
Kuching City South Council (MBKS) Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said the festival will bring back activities that were popular before the Covid-19 pandemic, including the Kuching Zumba Fiesta and the International Friendship Cities Night.
“During the International Friendship Cities Night, the audience will be treated to captivating performances from four cities, namely Guro (South Korea), Quanzhou and Zhenjiang (China) and Asuke (Japan).
“In addition, there will also be the nightly Garden Show, Street Parade in conjunction with Sarawak’s 60th anniversary, Chinese Traditional Music Concert, Folk Dance, Martial Arts Display, Kuching Got Talent, and much more,” he said during a press conference at MBKS here today.
The food fair, trade fair and nightly entertainment will run daily from 5 pm to 11 pm.
Meanwhile, Wee stressed the festival’s commitment to environmental responsibility by continuing its no plastic policy.
“We encourage the public to bring their own food containers, drinking bottles, and recycling bags at the festival,” he said.
This year’s Kuching Festival will feature a Kuching Creative City Pavilion to showcase the culinary heritage of Kuching and nurture young and emerging talents.
The pavilion will be held alongside the festival, showcasing chefs, association projects and activities promoting the sustainability and creativity of Kuching’s gastronomic sector.
Representatives from China, Indonesia, Brunei and Japan are among the participants of the pavilion to display their respective culinary specialties.
Visitors will also have the chance to participate in lucky draws, the prizes of which will be three motorcycles, two foldable bicycles and two laptops.
